Want to travel in Latinoamerica with a motorcycle?
I bought this motorcycle in October 2014, in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. I traveled with it 10 months through Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and finally Colombia. First alone, then starting from Argentina with a friend. It has 20000km and never broke.
It’s the freedom to go wherever you want, where tourists don’t go, in remote places.
It’s a Chinese brand (Montero, 150cc), like the majority of motorcycle you’ll find in the continent. They are all copies of the Honda CG125 and it’s super easy to find parts in every village.
I have all the papers (Invoice with custon taxes, registration certificate, Colombian temporary importation permit until the 24th of October). I never had any problem crossing borders, neither with the police.
It comes with one helmet, a custom rack to put 1 backpack on each side and a lot of tools: wrenchs from 6 to 19mm, monkey wrench, spare inner tube, patches + glue, spare spark plug, tire iron, spare sprokets.
